7 Fun Classic Movies You Might Have Missed

Just finished Tiger King? Plowed through the latest season of Ozark? While there might be less new shows and movies to watch these days, that doesn’t mean there aren’t new-to-you films you can’t enjoy. Here are seven solid flicks you might have missed. They’re easy to take in and help pass the time while your sourdough starter works its magic. The ground rules? Not many, really — just compelling story lines, great acting, and they all pre-date the iPhone.

The Movie: Moonstruck

Where to Find It: Amazon Prime

Why to Watch: A young Nicholas Cage, Brooklyn in the ‘80s, a very timely bread subplot, plus Cher won an Academy Award for her role in this movie. Enough said.

The Pairing: Coda Signature Caramel & Corn

This hybrid chocolate bar tastes like caramel corn and is a fun spin on sitting down with a movie and some popcorn.

The Movie: Tootsie

Where to Find It: Netflix

Why to Watch: Long before there was a name for the Time’s Up movement, there was Tootsie. Dustin Hoffman plays an idealistic, out-of-work actor who disguises himself as a woman, lands a leading part in a soap opera, and finds himself the target of sexual harassment.

The Pairing: Ganja Gold Red Tarantula Hybrid Pre-Roll

This hybrid pre-roll, with its citrusy terpene profile, gives you a lighthearted high while letting you focus on the film.

The Movie: Paris is Burning

Where to Find It: Netflix

Why to Watch: Predating RuPaul’s Drag Race by a good twenty-five years, this documentary follows Harlem’s then-burgeoning drag-ball scene. Featuring legendary voguers like Willi Ninja and Dorian Corey, drag queens and trans figures and coupled with an incredible soundtrack, it captures a cultural moment in time that feels especially prescient right now.

The Pairing: [statemade] max single pre-roll

Enjoy this now-classic and energizing film with a pre-roll that summons a euphoric high.

The Movie: Death Becomes Her

Where to Find It: Hulu

Why to Watch: Safe to say cosmetic surgery has come a long way since this one was made. Goldie Hawn and Meryl Streep are vain archnemeses who first face off and then join forces in their quest for the holy grail of eternal youth. Bruch Willias plays their husband, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon. It’s a funny commentary on vanity that’s even more relevant now that beauty treatments are hard to come by.

The Pairing: Beboe CBD  Face Serum

If the ladies of Death Become Her could get their hands on this full-spectrum CBD face oil, you know they would be slathering it on their skin to calm blemishes and minimize the appearance of fine lines.

The Movie: Swingers

Where to Find It: Hulu

Why to Watch: Anyone remember when you had to physically go out to meet someone, not just swipe right? When you had to pick up the phone to have a conversation with a romantic prospect, not just text? With a cast featuring Jon Favreau, Vince Vaughn and Heather Graham, Swingers captures that and all the loneliness that comes with it through a friendship of two unemployed actors on the eastside of LA, circa 1996.

The Pairing: Satori Milk Chocolate Covered Strawberries

These sweet treats offer up a relaxing experience since they’re CBD-rich.

The Movie: Irma la Douce

Where to Find It: Amazon Prime

Why to Watch: Billy Wilder is widely regarded as one of the best directors during Hollywood’s Golden Age and if you only watch one film by him, this is the one. Featuring a young Shirley MacLaine as a hooker with a heart of gold and a love of green thigh high boots, think of this as a precursor to Pretty Woman. Set in Paris’ red light district during the early 1960s, watch as a police officer played by Jack Lemmon falls in love with MacLaine and antics ensue.

The Pairing: MedMen Red Black Jack Flower

Pack a bowl or make a pre-roll with this energetic and focused sativa that has berry-flavors and a long lasting effect.

The Movie: Gone With The Wind

Where to Find It: Amazon Prime

Why to Watch: For those of you afraid of epic, sweeping old-time movies, here’s the reframe: Scarlett O’Hara was the OG Real Housewife of Atlanta. Her scheming, melodrama, and cunning ways were the full package, minus the eyelash extensions and self-tanner.

The Pairing: dosist Passion 200 Dose Pen

Could anything be more fitting that this aptly titled vape pen? It’s indica-dominant and promises you’ll feel focused and creative.
